UPDATE IN TAXATION FOR THE WEEK 3RD AUGUST TO 9TH AUGUST 2020

A. GOODS & SERVICES ACT

For the week 3^rd August 2020 to 9^th August 2020, no new Notification, Circular, Order, Ordinance or Instructions issued by the GST Policy Wing of the Central Board of Customs and Indirect Taxes (CBIC).

B. CUSTOMS

a. NOTIFICATIONS

i. Notification No. 32/2020 Cus dated 07^th August 2020.

This Notification amends Principal Notification No. 50/2017-Cus dated 30^th July 2018 (known as Jumbo Notification) by extending Customs Duty Exemption Benefit to all imports in relation to “13. Kundakulam Nuclear Power Project (KNPP) Unit 5  and 6 (1000MW X 2)” (Addition in List No 32) provided the conditions laid down thereunder are complied with.

b. ADVISORY

i. Advisory No 28/2020 dated 7^th August 2020 by Director General of Systems (ICEGATE)

The above advisory is issued by the DG, Systems for minimizing physical interface and various Electronic Exchange of Information have been activated in various stages of EXPORT Clearance on ICEGATE (e-portal of Customs). The following processes in the export clearance are available in E-Mode:

1. Customs Inland Manifest for eSeal Cargo;
2. Electronic Goods Registration
3. Online Stuffing Messages from ACU (Authorised Custodian)

The Exporters or their Customs Brokers now can file Shipping Bills and related documents, information online like Bill of Entry.

C. IMPORT – EXPORT RELATED – DGFT

a. NOTIFICATION

i. Notification No. 23/2015-2020 dated 4^th August 2020.

This Notification Amends Notification No. 53/2015-2020 dated 24-03-2020 and the goods covered under Entry No 207B of the Schedule as detailed under, are now classified under FREE category from RESTRICTED:

b. TRADE NOTICES

i. Trade Notice No. 23/2020-21 dated 31^st July 2020 (uploaded on website on 3^rd August 2020)

It has been informed to all Exporters who exporting under ASEAN-India FTA, vide this Trade Notice that CoO (Certificate of Origin) to be applied Online with Designated Authority.

Though the Designated Authority issues Online CoO with image Signature of Designated Authority, the Exporter is required to obtain 4 copies of the CoO duly signed (Ink Signed) from the Designated Authority. The entire process of application and issuance of CoO will be through e-COO platform.

ii. Trade Notice No. 43/2020-21 dated 4^th August 2020

Due to unavailability of application for quota to export PPE Medical Coveralls for COVID-19, the last date of application was extended to 8^th August 2020 from 5^th August 2020.
